Every so often–usually during the summer–I get the hankering to chop off my hair. It had gotten really long this time, so I figured I could donate to Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs for children with medical hair loss.
Of course, I couldn’t do something normal and go to a hair salon to get my haircut. No, I took my sewing scissors–yes the sewing scissors–and cut away. It’s not too bad; but I won’t be going to beauty school any time soon.
Looks okay….

I’m always proud of people for donating to this cause- just remember however, that the hair cannot be chemically treated. My mother is a hair stylist and has had to break the unfortunate news to many kind hearted a soul. I believe pantene’s hair donation project still will take it in the event of this scenario because they sell it to basic wig companies and use the proceeds for the charity.
Big Heart!
Thanks for reminding me. I think it may just be highlighted hair–which I had–that can’t be donated. Good tip about Pantene though.
Locks of love will take chemically treated hair. At least that’s what they say on the website, so you should be fine
The only hair they won’t take is gray
