I saw this on a fellow blogger’s page today who saw it on another blogger’s site and so forth. I thought it would be a great way to open up conversation.
A Art I love creating art. When I was in high school, I was in the National Art Honor Society. I used to have a big portfolio of my work; but an ex made me get rid of it.
B Bananas I can’t stand bananas. I’ve tried to like them; but I just don’t. My kids both love them though. Beets I dislike beets anymore. Just the smell of them make me sick.
C Car I was almost 22 when I got my driver’s license. I got my first car when I was almost 24. It was a standard and I had no idea how to drive it.
D Donor I donated blood for the first time recently then decided to go grocery shopping. I almost passed out in Target.
E Elevators I’m afraid of elevators. I do okay with them as long as there are only a handful of floors. Anything over that–I’m not getting in.
F Ferns I’m not a big fan of ferns ever since a snake crawled out of one at my aunt’s house when I was a kid.
G Gaelic I love all forms of Gaelic. I even have a tattoo in it. It says, “Gras, dilseacht, agus cairdeas,” the symbolism of the Claddagh ring . It means love, loyalty, and friendship.
H Heat I am very sensitive to the heat. I hate the summer. Winter is my favorite season. Sweater weather!
I Ice Cream Alas, I am allergic to traditional ice cream. I used to love Tofutti non dairy ice cream; but now soy is really bad for you. Boo.
J Jars I want to buy a bunch of jars one day and just spend the weekend canning. The only thing I’ve ever canned was pepper jelly.
K Kicked Out When I was a freshman, I got kicked out of pep squad. They made me “loan” my pompoms to the new girl. I never got them back.
L Learning Disability I’m dyslexic. I went to eye therapy for it as a kid. I still have trouble with it from time to time. I’m also offended when people make fun of dyslexia. It’s not a laughing matter for me.
M Myopia Yes, I’m nearsighted. I’ve been wearing glasses since the age of four when I was found to be farsighted.
N Nineteen I was nineteen when I got my first real job. I had to work because the student loan office messed up all my financial aid and I had to sit out a year.
O Opera I was once planning to become an opera singer. Until my audition and no sound came out of my mouth.
P Presents I like to make homemade presents for people. I’ve given elaborate gift baskets for Christmas. One year, I made a bunch of homemade things like barbecue sauce. I hope no one got food poisoning.
Q Quail My grandfather used to raise quail, so I decided to try it at a restaurant one day. I overpaid.
R Rabbit I used to go rabbit hunting with my dad. Rabbit is gross.
S Sushi I love sushi, especially the raw kind. I wish I had some sushi right now. A grocery store near my house was giving out samples the other day. I tried to get W to eat one (non raw) but she said it was yucky.
T Turtle I once bought a turtle from my neighbor for a dollar. In pennies. Then I lost it for a week.
U Understand Because of my hearing loss, I have trouble understanding people when they talk. I have to be right next to them with them looking at me. No, I can’t read lips. It’s just an idiosyncrasy of mine.
V Violin I’ve always wanted to play the violin. Vivaldi: The Four Seasons: L’Estate is the reason for that. Beautiful violins!
W Wilderness I used to belong to the Wilderness and Adventure club in high school. One chilly November we were camping and decided to cross a river. As in getting in the water and crossing it.
X X-Ray I’ve had several x-rays in my life, including at least two chest x-rays and many on my feet. The first x-ray I received was after I fell off a bus and sprained my ankle.
Y Young For most of my adult life, I’ve been told I look a lot younger than my years. After I had kids, that didn’t happen any more although I got carded recently.
Z Zoology I was disappointed in my zoölogy class in college because the teacher couldn’t pronounce anything and didn’t let us do any dissections as on the original syllabus.

22 when you got your driver’s license? I wish I could have waited that long. With my Mom’s visual handicap, I was able to get my license (not a permit, but the actual license) at the age of 14 and I was terrified of driving.
How do you handle an elevator if you have to go to a higher level and it’s crowded?
I think Gaelic is beautiful!
I’m with you on the winter season!
Do you still sing a lot?
When you write “Rabbit is gross” – I’m assuming you mean eating the meat (which I think is gross too), but not the actual animal, right?
Sushi! Good one! I might go to the grocery store today and get some. Rouse’s is good about carrying a decent selection for something quick.
Hmm, come to think of it, I never dissected anything, not even in high school!
Enjoyed your ABC’s – glad you liked the idea too
I don’t go in tall buildings if I can help it.
Yes, I still sing; but I haven’t been in a choir in several years.
Yes, the meat. But venison is good!
Whole Foods has good sushi too.
I love dissection. It is so interesting. I hope that doesn’t make me sound creepy.
