Have you ever felt shattered? In her book, Stained Glass Hearts: Seeing Life from a Broken Perspective, Patsy Clairmont writes about how God mends us when we are damaged. She uses the wonderful allegory of stained glass windows and mosaics to demonstrate how even the most fractured heart can heal and become something beautiful. Each chapter contains personal stories and is pieced together with music, art, and Scripture to be inspired by.
I love that Patsy uses personal testimony to illustrate the path to redemption. This intimate look into her own struggles drew me in. I have to admit that I especially enjoy reading books that emphasize real people and real situations. When she talks about facing such issues such debilitating anxiety, I feel as though she is reaching inside my heart. Her determination to face each day is very encouraging: “Change didn’t become measurable in me until I finally pulled myself out of bed before noon and tackled daily chores.” It all gets easier with devotion to God and self determination.
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed getting to know Patsy through her testimony. I especially liked the way she ended each chapter with materials to further enhance the lesson. By viewing, reading, or listening to these items, I feel I was there with Patsy as she wrote. If you are feeling broken, I recommend that you read Stained Glass Hearts; it will help you put those thousand of pieces back together.
