The Simplicity of Playing Trains

There is nothing that my son loves more than playing trains. He would set up his tracks and play morning, noon, and night if you would let him. Sometimes, have to urge him to take a break from the railroad. But shouldn’t it be the other way around? Shouldn’t we be the ones taking a break? One of the biggest pick-me-ups comes from playing with your children. We know how much the trains mean to C and wanted to share his experience as a family. So we packed up all of his tracks, engines, and cars and announced to the kids that we were going to the park. We were lucky to find a shelter where they both began setting out all the “equipment.”

And a lot of equipment it was! I never realized how many trains he had until they were all set out in one place. The funny thing is, he can tell you where he got each and every train. Down to the location of the store. Kids are so funny that way!

The children were so excited to have a big space to set out the trains. Of course, C started building the most elaborate configuration he could. Isn’t he creative?

I love spending time with my kids this way and look forward to another trip to the park sometime soon. I hope we can fit all his new trains in the car!

How do you play with your children?
