Our Super Hero Birthday Party with #MarvelAvengersWMT #CBias

The past couple of months, we’ve had several birthdays in my family. Finally they started winding down and we only had W’s left to celebrate. We don’t usually have parties with so many birthdays together, but she had her heart set on a super hero birthday party. I couldn’t say no to my little girl, so we decided to throw her an Avengers themed party. We thought it would be really fun to have a family fun night, especially with The Avengers BluRay/DVD release in a few days. My husband has been a Marvel fan since childhood; but we hadn’t been able to see The Avengers in the theater and are looking forward to seeing it on DVD.

The kids and I took a trip to Walmart to get party supplies. I knew they would have a lot of Avengers merchandise to choose from. Plus, I downloaded The Avengers Augmented Reality App which makes shopping an adventure! You can play games, take quizzes, and even interact with Avengers themed displays and merchandise.

We found plenty of fun items at Walmart to make our Avengers party a success. The party section had a number of Avengers branded plates, napkins, and party favors. We selected a variety of items–I had some ideas brewing in my head already!

One of my favorite things about throwing a party is planning a menu. Luckily, Walmart now carries Marketside Pizza, which comes in several varieties. I chose a cheese pizza and a supreme pizza, as there are a few different tastes in our house. I also picked up some bell peppers and dips, as well as items to make a yummy dessert.

I couldn’t forget a present for the birthday girl. C helped pick one out and scanned it to check the price. It was a really great deal and something fun for the whole family! Check out my pictures to find out what it is.

The party required minimal set up. I put down blue tablecloth and the kids decorated the walls behind it with Avengers pictures they had drawn and colored. I set out all the party supplies we had bought, with the food on the side. The table looked pretty good by the time my husband came home from work.

The pizza went into the oven and we snacked on the peppers while we waited. The pizza was barely out of the oven before everyone dove in. It was so delicious–I think the kids had more pieces than we did! Somehow, everyone still had room for pie and brownies.

After we ate, W opened her present with some help from her brother. Actually, I think he did all the work. They love anything we give them and this gift was surely a hit! They looked at it for a few minutes and we went on to a party game I had made up. I had several different colors of card stock and written words on it that described powers and skills of The Avengers. I called it Super Hero Super Powers. The kids would each pick a card and act it out. Their interpretations were so funny!  When the party was done, we decided to watch Thor to finish off the night.

W really enjoyed her super hero party and so did the rest of the family. I love spending time with my husband and children; this was the perfect way to do it. The kids both took to the Avengers theme; we are very excited about the BluRay/DVD release. Walmart will have exclusive combo packs with the BluRay, DVD, and The Avengers graphic novel. I got a sneak peek at the novel and it is great–at least what I saw of it before W commandeered it. • They were so funny playing it. I laughed when my son and daughter picked multilingual and dancer. That describes them both–in their own minds!
