Our family is facing the possibility of moving in a few months and I have to admit, I’m a bit befuddled. It’s been over ten years since I last experienced a full move; it was not exactly my favorite experience. Moving with two children is not something I look forward to. Trying to remember what I need to do is a bit of a challenge, especially if we move in the middle of lessons. Here are some moving tips for the homeschooler, sponsored by 1-800-Pack-Rat.
Moving Tips for the Homeschooling Family
In addition to these great tips, also consider your classroom. Some of us homeschool year round, so the summer months will still be school time. You may want to try the following, in order to keep homeschooling during a move.
- Lighten the load. Don’t try to do a full curriculum in the two to three weeks surrounding a move. Instead, move to easy workbooks and educational games on the tablet.
- Try carschooling. There are a number of educational CDs that you can play while driving.
- Play car games. Favorites such as the Alphabet Game and the License Plate Game can reinforce reading skills and geography skills.
Homeschooling doesn’t have to be interrupted during a move. It just needs a bit of tweaking. It can also provide some distraction during the stress of a move.
