I’ve really been wanting to do something with my kitchen to give it some new life. With white cabinets and dull countertops, it’s in need of of a bit of a facelift. But of course, you know how expensive it can be to makeover your kitchen. New cabinets alone can cost thousands of dollars. I also love the look of granite countertops but we don’t have the budget for it.

Now there is an affordable option to  heavy and expensive granite countertops. EZ Instant Makeover manufactures quality films that you can place over your existing countertops to mimic the look of granite. No one will be able to tell the difference!

I installed EZ Faux Granite on my very own countertops. To my surprise, it was an easy application. All I needed were a few simple tools:

• Roll of EZ Faux Granite in Siena Granite
• Scissors
• Utility knife
• Heat Gun
• Spray bottle of water
• Credit card
• Caulking

The first thing I did was clean my countertop really well and spray it down with water. Next, I cut my EZ Faux Granite film to fit the countertop, leaving about an inch of overhang.

I peeled off a small area of the backing and placed it carefully on the countertop. Any air bubbles were smoothed out with the credit card (covered in cloth). I worked slowly and carefully, pulling back a little of the backing at a time. Finally, I got to the the end of the countertop. I trimmed the sides with my utility knife and wrapped the remaining film under the edge of the countertop. I used my trusty heat gun to shrink the film–it reminded me of shrinking plastic in the oven!

I would definitely recommend doing this with a partner. I could have used an extra set of hands when pulling off the backing and trimming the sides. Otherwise, I found it very simple to do and I can’t wait to finish my entire kitchen!
