The children have been drawing a lot lately and making up little stories to go along with their illustrations. I remember making mini books a few years ago and thought they might enjoy making their own. It is a great project to do during quiet time and doesn’t require many supplies. For the book you will need:
- One sheet of paper
- Stapler
- Crayons, pencil, markers
kk
The first thing you will need to do is fold your sheet of paper in half lengthwise. You can use any type of paper: construction paper, newsprint, or typing paper. I wouldn’t recommend cardstock as it would be too hard to fold.
Once you have the paper folded in half, fold it in half again from left to right. Look at the picture below for help.
You will need to fold the paper in half one more time after this. Your book is almost done!
When all the folds are completed, your book should look like this:
You will need to cut the edges of the book so you will have individual pages.
To complete the book, staple twice at the spine.
Now the book is ready for your budding Picasso or Dr. Seuss.
You could make up a bunch of these little books at one time. They would be great for a party or tucked away for a rainy day.My kids and I have made several already!

Oh you reminded me! I used to love these as a kid, I’m going to try these with my kids. I think they will love this!
I think I might mention these tomorrow. Great way to keep them occupied while I clean house. I wish our mops were arriving!
I, too, used to make these as a kid! It’s fun because my mom saved a lot of them! I should do this with my son, thanks!
Isn’t it great how some things we did as kids are still “cool?”
