Fire and Ice Cream Cheese Dip

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire. Robert Frost 1920

The approach of July has me thinking about family get togethers and all the good food we used to have. I have to admit, we kids usually didn’t last until the main meal. How could we with a bevy of appetizers in front of us? My favorite was a block of cream cheese covered with pineapple preserves or pepper jelly. Sweet and savory–yum! I have been wanting to create an updated version of that “dip” for a while. Now that Wholly has a new line of salsas, I have been able to revamp this special snack in just a few steps. I chose the Pineapple Salsa for my recipe, but the Red Pepper Mango would probably give it a special twist. Wholly also has three other salsas among their new products:

  • Guacamole and Spicy Pico
  • Roasted Tomato
  • Avocado Verde

I have tried every one and they all delicious, each with their own memorable flavors.

Fire and Ice Cream Cheese Dip

Needed:

  • Wholly Salsa Pineapple
  • Cream Cheese
  • Manchego Cheese
  • Habanero Cheddar Cheese or Pepper Jack
  • Crackers for Serving

First I whipped the cream cheese up a bit in the mixer. I do this instead waiting for it to soften.

Next I add the Pineapple Salsa to the cream cheese and blend well.

Next I add the cheeses. I put the manchego in the dip and the habanero cheddar on top. However, I suggest putting both in the dip so they will melt evenly.

After the cheese are blended well, the dip is put into a 350° oven for 30 minutes.

This dip hit the nail on the head! It took the sweet pineapple of the preserves and the spice of the pepper jelly and combined them for a wow factor! It sure brings back a lot of memories.

  1. I love eating salsa in a fresh homemade taco salad topped w/ extra Wholly Guacamole, sour cream, & cheese- Yummy! I entered as many ways as I could. Please choose me for the cooler, I’m a student & big fan of Wholly guacamole & buy it 3-4 times per month (which is not easy on a student’s budget, lol!). I really hope I win, since I never seem to win anything, haha. I didn’t even use any coupons on any of my Wholly products ever, due to the fact of our printer being stolen during the move. = (

  2. I like just chips and salsa, but sometimes I’ll mix bite size browned chicken breast with salsa, warm it up and eat over rice.

  3. I love salsa on baked potatoes, topped with cheese, sour cream and guacamole! My family calls them “taco taters”.

  4. I like to eat salsa with chips or in burritos and tacos. Thanks for the giveaway.

  5. I like to put some shredded cheddar in the salsa and heat it up a bit so the cheeses is melty and the salsa is warm and then eat with tortilla chips.

Another favorite way is to make homemade nachos and dip them in some nice cool salsa
