I haven’t been taking care of myself lately. As Charlene explains in her recent post, it’s important to take time for myself. And that is my dilemma. Time. It’s often difficult to get away to even shop alone. Here are some creative ways I can find time for myself, even though I am surrounded by chaos.
- Listen to music We are big lovers of classical music here. I can put on a beautiful piece and immediately become relaxed. The bonus? It has the same affect on the children.
- Read a book When I read, I find myself transported to another place. It’s like a vacation without ever leaving home.
- Find a hobby I find when I do things like sew, I can focus my thoughts on that project and block out distractions.
- Get up before everyone else I have been doing this a lot lately. The quiet is soothing, but I really need to start using the time to get back in touch with God

Going to a spa or having a mom’s night out isn’t always possible. That’s why it’s important to be able to adapt. Getting away is not as important as just having a few minutes to breathe. That makes all the difference.
My husband often times has to leave early in the morning. I get up and water the garden before or during the sunrise. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. A good way to start the day.
