Mix Up Your Recipes with Skillet Bacon Jam

Even though it’s been around forever, bacon seems to be a very popular food lately. I have to admit, I love bacon myself. Every once in a while, I indulge by having some bacon. When I heard that Skillet Street Food has something called bacon jam, I became intrigued.

Skillet Bacon Spread comes in two flavors: Original and Fennel and Black Pepper. I love the taste of fennel, so I was eager to try it for myself. The bacon jam contains spices as well as:

  • Niman ranch bacon
  • Onions
  • Apple cider vinegar

All ingredients are simmered down and pureed into a spreadable jam. I decided that mine would be perfect on a pizza. Inspired by a recipe a friend gave me, I made a crust and layered it with hummus, fennel bacon jam, and smoked Gouda. It was very good–we all had seconds! I think Skillet Bacon Jam was a stroke of genius. Sometimes, the smallest ingredients make the best pizza toppings.

I would love it if they made a version with non-cured bacon so I could eat it more often. I would have also liked to have tried the fennel paired with balsamic vinegar like in the original spread; as you know, I love my balsamic vinegar.

Skillet Bacon Spread with Fennel and Black Pepper can be found online and at specialty shops. You can contact Skillet Street Food at [email protected].

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
