We are still preparing for the upcoming school year, but I wanted to give you a quick glimpse at what we use for our schoolroom. We don’t have a set schoolroom. per se; but instead have several places throughout the house we will be using for both teaching and organization.
As I mentioned earlier, we are doing a classical curriculum this year. Part of that requires keeping our work in binders; for the rest, I decided to use accordion files. I was looking for something to fit all of these items and this little half basket is perfect! It fits perfectly under our folding table.
We tend to do a lot of lessons sitting on the floor, so this bin will be pretty convenient. We also will be doing a lot of work at the kitchen table, especially things that require writing. Today, I finished painting the top of the table with chalkboard paint so that we can do work straight on the table. I also want to hang a map of the world on the wall behind it so that we can find places that we study about in history.
This door is painted with magnetic primer and I plan to add chalkboard paint to it as well. It’ll be a great place to write C’s memorization pieces! Plus, the kids love reading on their beds or in the beanbag chair.
So there you have it: a short tour of our “schoolroom.” It’s not much yet, but I’ll get it all in shape real soon. And then I’ll post an update!
